First gig with our new bass-player Stefan Weihe. I keep refering to this event as the "porno show", for the flyer showed a semi-naked woman...
Needless to say that the bands involved had nothing to do with this...
and the P.A. man should have got another job to say at least..."
Stefan: "... I was like leaving the stage at one point for the sound was terrible!"

Great gig!
Yellowhouse went down best of
all 4 bands! Jensen P. did a great frontmann-job, the
rhythm-section of bassist Matze Pfund and drummer Florian Dufour-Feronce was absolutely
tight and Hartmut Kreckel showed, what he
could do with his guitar...
Great audience reaction for Yellowhouse,
standing ovations!!! In contrast to
all this: security and catering was a
pain the a*** for Yellowhouse!
The 45 min.
set consisted of: Intro - Red Light Diamond
- Sacred Feelings - The Silent Screaming - Between The Wheels - Mrs.
Gentle - Return To The Sky - Keep On Going My Way - Ahead Of
Our Time - For Ever - Kill Your Dreams - What´s Shining
Through .
Jensen P.: "...what
a stage... what sort of sound and lights and last, but not least: we
were good...! Some of the crew were so
poor... but who cares..."
Hartmut: "Yes, yes..." Set-List: Intro - Red Light
Diamond - Silver Shadow - Burn, Learn & Turn - Mrs. Gentle - Return

Feelings - The Silent Screaming - Ahead Of Our Time - For Ever -
Ain´t No Cure - Kill Your Dreams. Hartmut: "The
soundcrew was a pain
in the a***... so
they were fired after the gig. The sound was
obnoxious, I felt sorry for the audience and was
relieved, when the gig was over! We did three encores, as
some people came in late from far away just to
see us: "What´s Shining Through" "Now You´re
Gone" und "Diana". And a big "Now
you´re gone, I feel so free..." to the
soundcrew!"
Florian: "Catastrophe, disaster... oh"
Jensen: "...
and those constant feedbacks *weren´t* the soundman´s fault! Sex &
drugs & alcohol is all his body needs!" A quite bizarre place at the former east-west
german boarder, better sound than the previous day... Intro -

at the beginning... near the end they became accesible... we did our best and it
showed!" Hartmut:
"Very good gig... and some poor person stole a
Yellowhouse CD!"
Jensen: ":.. someone stole a YH-CD (how
poor!). After a few hours of sleep, we were treated
to a royal breakfast at Matze´s girlfriends place
and then back to big
B.". What a gig... a record in the History of Yellowhouse: 9 songs
encores. Great audience... wildest, extatic crowd reaction. Some
interesting anectodes: it took three attempts to start the
Yellowhouse-classic "For Ever", as a guitar-cable
crapped; after the second attempt, Singer Jensen P. offered
to undress himself, but nobody took the gamble... as
Hartmut Kreckel played the intro-riff to "Now You´re Gone" ("...here is
a song for my Ex-Girlfriend..."), it had
to be discontinued, as the fuse of Matze
Pfund´s Bassamp crapped as well. The
crowd sang "What´s Shining Through" over and over...
only to be interrupted by *Yellowhouse
rocks, Yellowhouse rocks"-chants, which made sure
that the encores kept coming
on.

After 175min. music, Yellowhouse headed to a party
some 10km away from the
gig.
Jensen: "Despite the fact, hat I had to sleep
alone in the tent again, we had lot´s of fun:
...and now we know, why Hartmut uses a guitar-strap...
no, no it´s a secret!!!" Florian: "That´s what I call a audience, and after the
show the party is on... give me another encore
please!" Hartmut: "Well
be back..."
A good promo gig
for Yellowhouse!
Superb, Yellowhouse went down very
well, and people saw that Yellowhouse - contrary to other
bands...are able
to play! The 27min.
set consisted of: Intro- Red Light Diamond - Between The Wheels - Kill Your Dreams
- Hollywood Cell (unplugged) - Ahead Of Our Time - Return To
The Sky. Jensen P.: "...I
remembered the backstage-area from former times... the sound was
very good (thanks to stage- & pa-mixer!). Great
gig!"
The
resceduled gig with the Live-Recording one year afterwards... and
the Live-Recording didn´t work out, because of
technical problems in the sund company´s area.

audience attendance. Yellowhouse played
their a***s off anyway, as it should
be!"
Two days in Salzwedel, with Fotosession by the lokal newspaper.
The promotor was a flake - promotionwise... next. Performance was pretty good, sound was pretty average. Set-List (01.05.): Intro - Red

- Evolution - Sacred Feelings - The Silent Screaming -

Most probably, this
gig has to be regarded as a turistical activity for Yellowhouse:
playing a youth club in the suburb of Berlin. Yellowhouse was the
only band out of four, that managed to
get a crowd reaction out of the very young audience,
that remained completetly silent during the whole evening: some dudes were
even headbanging along the rhythm of the
songs and demanding a encore. 03.03.01 Berlin,
Rickenbaker´s Inn (Unplugged
Gig for German Rock
e.V.) This was the first
ever unplugged gig in the history of Yellowhouse and also the debut
of new bass-player Mathias "Matze" Pfund. In addition to
this, it was the first time that Yellowhouse performed their new
song "The Silent Screaming". The set consisted of :
Evolution - Mrs. Gentle - The Silent Screaming - Land Of
Lightning - Keep On Going My Way - Ain´t No Cure - Another Day
- Hollywood Cell -- Evolution (Encore).
The return of Yellowhouse
to the Emergenza-Festival (europe´s biggest band contest) this
year
could not have been
better. The band played a hell of a set, that consisted of: Red
Light Diamond - Between The Wheels - Kill Your Dreams - Ain´t
No Cure - Return To The Sky - Damnation. They walked the stage, the
audience was waiting, Jensen P. said something like "How are
you doing? Alright?". Yes it was alright and they opened up
with "Red Light Diamond", the way that any Yellowhouse
show should start. It was "Ain´t No Cure", that had
the audience to their feet. Blistering guitar solos and riffs from
Hartmut Kreckel, fine bass-playing from Nick Behr, a great show,
singing and frontmanship from Jensen P. and Florian Dufour-Feronce,
who played the drums like no tomorrow did win the audience over to
gain 72 votes and therefore qualify for the second leg of the
Emergenza contest, to be performed in May in Berlin´s
prestigious Columbia Fritz.
01.12.2000 Berlin,
deziBel Pub & Stage (Record Release
Party)
The band having rehearsed "Red Light Diamond" and "Between The Wheels"
got ready for the "What´s Shining Through" Record Release Party at deziBel.
Nick: "What a difference a week
(and a different location) made! After quite a relaxed trip (the
VW-bus belonging the band of our drummer´s brother -
hey, thanks folks!), equally relaxed setup and an extensive soundcheck, the only thing
left to do was waiting for the audience. Even
though the "deziBel Pub&Stage" is not too large a location, it felt
rather good to stand on the small stage. Especially because
of the great audience we had that evening. The "deziBel" was filled with
people, and most of them seemed to have enjoyed our
performance from the beginning on. Our singer Jensen, after having been
that disappointed the week before, grew beyond his limits, and all of us seemed to
have a hell of good time up there. The audience shed applause on
every song, so that we played a full setlist
with the "da capo" songs without even registering the time flying by.
After the gig, we had quite a lot
of "work" writing our autographs on the "Yellowhouse"-CDs we sold,
which was accounting satisfactorily for the motto of the
gig: "Record Release Party"... At this point again a great "Thanks!" to
all the folks that made this gig such a great experience
for us! Hope to see YOU again when
playing in Berlin!"
Hartmut: "...one of the best Yellowhouse gigs
ever, I believe..."
24.11.2000 Berlin, Cafe Kalle (Steglitzer Rock
Festival) The set was: Evolution - Silver Shadow - Return To The Sky - Damnation - Keep On
Going My Way - Mrs. Gentle - Kill Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone - Ain´t No Cure -
What´s Shining Through - Diana.
20.11.2000 Berlin, Flöz
On a monday night in Flöz, what can you expect? Just a warm-up for the real things to
come... So did Yellowhouse (Mark 6: Nick Behr, Florian Dufour-Feronce, Jensen P. &
Hartmut Kreckel). The set was: Evolution - Silver Shadow - Burn, Learn & Turn - Mrs.
Gentle - Return To The Sky - Damnation - Keep On Going My Way - Another Day - Ain´t No
Cure - For Ever - Kill Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone - What´s Shining Through.
Set list: Red Light Diamond - Silver Shadow - Burn, Learn & Turn - Mrs. Gentle -
Return To The Sky - Damnation - Between The Wheels - Land Of Lightning (unplugged)-
Hollywood Cell (unplugged) - Evolution - Keep On Going My Way - Another Day - Ain´t No
Cure - For Ever - Kill Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone - What´s Shining Through -- Diana.
Florian: "The Gig was resceduled at the last minute to
the venue Donnerwetter. Very small place, sound was quite good and
pretty much crowded. As the previous day, we played two complete
sets and during the second set, we broke the ice with the people in
Greifswald."
Florian: "We arrived just in
time in Stralsund, set up the backline and rocked. Quite mixed crowd
and quite receptive. Two women told me, that we were the best band
(out of 8, that performed in that circuit event on that
night). Two groupies of considerable age gained interest in
Jensen and myself (while Hartmut and Toralf wisely cleared away)...
they were just a *bit* too old! We performed the whole set two times
and ended at 1.30 Uhr with "What´s Shining Through",
incl. Drum Solo played with my hands and "Red Light
Diamond"." Hartmut:
"Sadly we couldn´t do another encore after "Red
Light Diamond" as we had them going hot (& wet)... Almost
couln´t sleep that night, as the promotor put us in a 4-bed
room and Jensen´s snoring was almost as loud as Yellowhouse
live..."
The live debut of the new
Yellowhouse drummer Florian Dufour-Feronce. Florian: "Just as
we come to Strausberg, we were told that the Pudhys (very popular
east-germany band) played a free concert on that very night just a
few blocks away from Club Tonne. We knew that this could mean a
problem, set up and soundchecked. The gig was supposed to
start at 9pm and at 10pm there was one single person there... so we
decided to cancel and started to pack it in. And then people started
to come in, one by one and the place filled up. Hartmut went to the
people asking "do you want us to play?"...
"YES..." A quick word with the promotor and we played on.
After two encores: "Diana" done at incredible speed
(>200bpm - even faster than on the "Living In The
Light"-Demo) and "Return To The Sky" for the second
time, we were exhausted. We´ll be back next
year."The set
consisted of: Red Light Diamond - Silver Shadow - Burn, Learn &
Turn - Mrs. Gentle - Return To The Sky - Damnation - Between The
Wheels - Evolution - Keep On Going My Way - Ain´t No Cure -
Another Day - For Ever - Kill Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone -
What´s Shining Through – Diana. 25.04.2000 Berlin,
Studentenclub "Die Börse"
The same procedure as last year: good food, mega lights and sound (with lots of delay on
the vocals): Red Light Diamond - Silver Shadow - Burn, Learn & Turn - Mrs. Gentle -
Return To The Sky - Damnation - Between The Wheels - Land Of Lightning (unplugged)-
Hollywood Cell (unplugged) - Evolution - Keep On Going My Way - Another Day - Ain´t No
Cure - For Ever - Kill Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone - What´s Shining Through -- Diana.
This gig marked the debut of Toralf´s new stage-outfit. 31.03.2000
Berlin, Haus der Jugend Köpenick
A very bizarre place in
Köpenick, a traditional youth club, with a very mediocre sound.
Yellowhouse played a 45 min. set, that consisted of: Red Light
Diamond - Silver Shadow - Evolution - Return To The Sky - Damnation
- Between The Wheels - Keep On Going My Way - Another Day - Kill
Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone - What´s Shining Through.
This gig marked the live debut of the new song "Another
Day", which had just been laid down a couple of days before @
Masterix Studios. Reports (rumours) of the band being unhappy after
checking out the girls and therefore ending up in a strip-bar, seem
to be totally unfounded.
Yellowhouse rocked that place in south Berlin, performing a very tight 75 set, that
consisted of Red Light Diamond - Silver Shadow - Burn, Learn & Turn - Mrs. Gentle -
Return To The Sky - Damnation - Between The Wheels - Evolution - Keep On Going My Way -
Ain´t No Cure - For Ever - Kill Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone - What´s Shining Through.
02.02.2000 Berlin, Knaack
Yellowhouse´s
performance at the Emergenza band contest was accompanied by some
serius challenges: first of all singer Jensen P. fell seriously ill
two days before the gig, and in spite of having been plagued by
39° body temperature, he even made it to give very professional
performance. Secondly, Hartmut´s beloved red guitar crapped
during the second song of the night "Between The Wheels",
which led to some interruption before moving into the third song of
the night "Evolution". The 25 min. set consisted of:
Return To The Sky-Between The Wheels-Evolution-Damnation-Keep On
Going My Way-What´s Shining Through. But the was no way to get
through a audience comprised mainly of Ska and Punk people in order
to acquire enough votes for the second round. It was a very mediocre
night for Yellowhouse, a gig that will not be remembered. And
someone nicked the soundboard tape from that gig!!! Afterwards the
band started to celebrate Detlev Bruckhoff´s
birthday.
21.01.2000 Berlin,
dezibel Pub & Stage A very tight performance, Yellowhouse performed a set
that listed 100 min. The set list was the same as in Junction Bar
14.12.99, with "Return To The Sky" done twice (once in the
set and once as a first encore, preceding "Diana", that
was the second encore). "What´s Shining Through" was
extented up to 10 min. with Jensen P. working with the audience,
getting a hot response during the sing-a-long with Yellowhouse part.
Reportedly that song was written about teenage sex and it always
seems to get the girls getting uptight. The band´s performance
of "Ain´t No Cure (for a messed up youth)" left the
audience sufficiently breathless enough, before really rocking along
to the grooves of "Kill Your Dreams" and "Now
You´re Gone". The show had to end at the midnight hour,
and Yellowhouse will be back soon.
With the Intro to "Red Light Diamond" something overflows, something mysterious, kind of mystic, and then this strong force which fills the place, when they fully started out with "Red Light Diamond".
In spite of this strong beginning, singer Jensen P. stands up a bit apathetically, if something looks bored to him. One could already feel the energy of guitarist Hartmut Kreckel and also drummer Florian Dufour-Feronce. During "Burn, Learn & Turn" one notices a certain restlessness of the singer, in his gestures, in his voice, as if he always wanted to get rid of aggressions against whoever...
As well with "Mrs. Gentle", a more quiet, deep-coming out song, the gestures and the vocal volume were turned up just too much. Absolutely mismatching with a song like this.
With "Return To the Sky", one felt clenched power, a strong guitar and drums and tight bass by Stefan Weihe. In "Damnation", subdued light on stage, which gives the song a certain atmosphere.
Again a strong guitar solo from Hartmut during "Between the Wheels". One feels his passion and his dedication to the guitar.
An awkward incident, when the singer wanted to announce the next song and forgot the title of the song. The drummer had to help out with the announcement of "What Goes On". After "Babylon" the instrumental followed, which supplied the proof of wildly striking hearts and furious pulses. Florian plays drum marathon, Stefanīs bass is pumping, and the guitar slides straight through the place and hits in the middle of one's breast.
Since guitarist Hartmut Kreckel attempted to announce the next song, singer Jensen P. cuts him off, very unsporting. Quiet sounds coming up with "Hollywood Cell" and "My Own Universe", which found a perfect ending with the "Epilogue" of "Red Light Diamond". Songs, anyone likes to just lean back and give thoughts a free run.
"Evolution", "Sacred Feelings" and "Silent Sreaming" followed. Switching into "Ahead Of Our Time", one received a free rastaman interlude from the frontman. A bit out of place really. Yellowhouse is supposed to be a Rockband.
"Avaryne" followed, a very exotic song, loaded by emotions, and the charcteristic voice of the singer gave the right expression to the song. But his presentation didn't fit at all. Beautiful, if dinner tastes well, but nevertheless, it should also look a bit pleasing.
Classic sounds from Yellowhouse in "For Ever" and "Ain't No Cure", followed by "What's Shining Through". A song, one can gladly be carried away, especially during the fantastic drum solo, those pushing drums, constantly building up the rhythm, and when the bass comes in, one feels like formally nailed on by the rhythm.
Afterwards "Kill Your Dreams", a very spirited song. As already happened previously, the singer forgot the title of "Nobody Needs You", once again he had a problem finding his cue.
The regular set should be finished, but the audience demanded encores. "Land Of Lightning" followed, a quiet, sensible song with a bit of an exotic impact.
Afterwards the singer said "Goodbye" to the audience, although previously he announced three more songs, as if his mind was elsewhere.
There still followed "Signs" and with "Diana" they reved up one more time and finished their mammoth's program of more than two hours, which didn't lose attractivity and quality during the whole show.
A fantastic scene altogether. The longing, that the band is feeling inside within doing their music, inspires for own longings, if one has not realized until this moment.
"Emergenza Rockfestival (a band contest), March 04/2002, Knaack Club, Berlin.
The first time I went to this event and it will be the last time, as long as regulations will not be changed.
9.30p.m, time for Yellowhouse to perform. They were announced as "Emergenza veterans...", nevertheless, it is striking, that the band wants to carry away their audience in spite of these disastrous regulations year after year again.
They did a fantastic performance, powerful voices, sense of breathtaking rhythms and lyrics, in which each of us should recognize a piece of one's life. And the audience acted accordingly in spending deserving applause. Moments, where people just were able to loose up and let them forget about the missionary work, they had to do... Applause became contained, the closer it got to the end of the show, and lots of the people probably realized, why they came to this event in the first place. That was, to vote for THAT band, they were hired of.
What seemed to inspire them moments ago, was suddenly completely forgotten. Nevertheless, some should ask themselves, if it makes sense to bother to perform at all. Just can go on stage, using this 25 minutes to have a nice drink along with these people, they hired to vote. Nothing could go wrong anymore.
Is there a solution for this behaviour? The only solution probably would be an anonymous casting of votes. Honestly speaking, it is sad, that something like this is necessary to do, because this solution doesnīt help the people to strengthen their self-confidence. But the only way to show fairness and appreciate the efforts of the bands.
Knaack Club was not necessarily responsible for what happened, moreless the general regulations of Emergenza need to be condemned.
Well, even though it must not be very comfortable for the singer of a band, to perform in Knaack Club, having an oversized post in front of his eyes, not knowing, how to reach his audience.
In any case, 'nough respect to Yellowhouse, who did not keep back in offering a perfect show, and lots of respect as well to the people, who showed enough self-confidence and stood for their honest opinion.
..."

Matze: "We went down
best of all bands, we got the best crowd
reaction... !"
01.02.2001 Berlin, Knaack
Hartmut Kreckel: "...to be very honest, I was
very nervous before the gig, having had in mind the bad experince of
the previous year, when we didn´t make it. In other words:
Yellowhouse had some dues to pay and I was completely aware of this!
And we did it, we went through a metamorphosis and it proved:
Yellowhouse rocks again-better than ever!".
Being only the 3rd gig in this Yellowhouse line-up (Mark 6 that is), it sounded pretty
tight and the audience were behind the band from the opening riff of "Red Light
Diamond" onwards... to the last chord of "Diana". And the chemistry within
the band seemed to be very good indeed. New bass-player Nick Behr kept shining with his
melodic bass licks in "Ain´t No Cure (for a messed up youth)" and Florian
Dufour-Feronce´s drum solo during "What´s Shining Through" simply took the
roof off. Jensen P. kept it going through the whole show, always keeping the line with the
crowd. And Hartmut Kreckel seemed to be enjoying the gig a lot, his intro to "For
Ever": "...once this was our song, now it became your song!" could not have
expressed more sincerity. He played the guitar solo in "For Ever" note for note
as on the recorded version on "Living In The Light". For those who were not
there, that was a good chance to come taste the band! The set was the following: Red Light
Diamond - Silver Shadow - Burn, Learn & Turn - Mrs. Gentle - Return To The Sky -
Damnation - Between The Wheels - Evolution - Keep On Going My Way - Another Day - Ain´t
No Cure - For Ever - Kill Your Dreams - Now You´re Gone - What´s Shining Through --
Return To The Sky - Diana.
Nick: "...the gig in Steglitz was all in all a rather unpleasant experience. After a
quick soundcheck leaving us not much more than semi-content, there was absolutely nothing
to do but wait for the two hours until the beginning of the concert. We already felt a
little bit uneasy when we realised the first band coming out of the death-metal corner,
basically pumping quite a lot of db of rather mono-accordic power-chord lines into the
crowd. The audience reacted to this stimuli with wild (or sometimes rather weird)
metal-style dancing and enforced the band with a respectable amount of applause after
each
song. Therefore, we relaxed a little and tried to enjoy the
performance. Unsurprisingly, the scenery was not too motivating. The
doormen and ticket-vendors tried their best to add some different
spice to the atmosphere with "Hartmut! Hartmut!" cheers,
"Hartmut, wir lieben Dich [we love You]!" - posters and
specially designed "Hartmut K" business - cards for the
after - gig occupation with the female fans... But in the and we
were nothing but glad to have the whole affair finished and vanished
away from Steglitz into the late Berlin night. In contrast to what
the poor audience-response might suggest, we had the intention of
not having performed too catastrophically, which we felt to be
confirmed when watching the video-recording of the gig. Of course,
the band that played afterwards was also a death-metal band, so that
evening it was just the wrong place and the wrong time to come along
with our music..."
Nick
Behr: "This gig was the first that I played with
"Yellowhouse". If You have ever been to the Flöz
before, you will probably know the usual Monday night jam session
scenery. Therefore we did not quite expect a head-start. The
musicians grew a little impatient looking forward to get on the
stage themselves, but we played our complete setlist, and even quite
agreeably so. After the gig, the musicians of course delighted us
with a load of "trick of the trade" kind of
"hints" and "well-meant criticism", but also
expressed some compliments on our performance. Therefore, I think we
could be rather content with this gig."
Hartmut:
"Yellowhouse was a thunderstorm @ the thunderstorm (in German
Donnerwetter)... during "Evolution" in the second
set an old lady, who lived in the neighbourhood came in and
complained about the "loud music" (adding "if you
could refer to this as music..."). That person was indeed
penetrating my nerves- I was in near the climax (of the guitar solo
in "Evolution"- I should add) and after we finished the
song, I told her to talk (or complain) to the promotor. Luckily I
didn´t see her again..."
This
was a co-headling thing, together with "The Camelots", and
Yellowhouse´s set went down quite well, though it was not very
crowded. There were no aftershow Parties, as the band was scheduled
to start the next morning to be in the Studio to record their CD
(see News section).
